You will ideally have lived experience of caring, ideally as a carer for a child with SEND. The role is well suited to anyone with caring responsibilities currently claiming or looking to claim Carer’s Allowance.

Role Overview:
You will be supporting the carers of children with SEND, offering guidance through the maze of available services, emotional support and advocacy. You’ll conduct wellbeing reviews, collaborate with VCS and statutory colleagues, and enjoy outreach activities to spread the word about our services. Get ready to facilitate peer support groups, deliver engaging training, and be a catalyst for positive change in this fulfilling role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Listen, advise, and provide support to parent carers, both in person and remotely.
- Offer information and signposting to connect carers with appropriate services.
- Engage in outreach initiatives to extend our services’ reach.
- Encourage carers to advocate for themselves.
- Conduct wellbeing reviews to support carers in prioritizing their own wellbeing.
- Emphasize strength-based and preventive approaches.
- Collaborate with carers in devising effective self-care strategies.
- Work from our Shipley office, and occasionally from home, meeting carers in local communities and their homes as per guidelines.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for working with carers and an understanding of the challenges they face.
- Previous experience providing individual and group support to adults.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with carers on a personal level and collaborate as a team member.
- Flexibility to adapt to the varying needs and demands of the role
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and rights of carers.
- Competent user of IT, email, Microsoft Office
- Able to travel around Bradford district and around other Carers’ Resource offices
