Anyone with more than one child knows that the relationship between siblings can be joyful, competitive, playful and argumentative, sometimes all in 5 minutes!
Sibling relationships are often the longest-lasting relationship in individuals’ lives and growing up with a disabled brother or sister can be a complicated and challenging experience. Parents often worry that time, attention and support services are all focused on the child with the disability, leaving siblings feeling left out.
Your child’s siblings are young carers and are entitled to the service we offer to all young carers. This may include youth clubs, trips and activities in school holidays and 1:1 support at difficult times. Find out about our young carer service here: Young Carers.
